Pete and Jenna blanket

My sweet cousin Peter is getting married next month to the lovely Jenna. As a wedding gift to our favorite tattooed couple, all of the knitters in the family are making 12x12 squares to be made into a blanket. I finished the first of my two squares while getting a tan during our garage sale this afternoon. I decided to go with two zodiac sign squares, a gemini for Jenna and a taurus square for Pete. Here's Jenna's completed square. I'm hoping to get Pete's done tomorrow!

Garage sale

I hate garage sales!!!! OK, I hate holding garage sales. Nothing annoys me more then some cheapskate coming to your yard sale and then trying to bargain over an object that is already dirt cheap trying to get a better price. On the plus side, I like making money on some stuff I really don't need anymore. Here's what was left after day one. One more day of torture left!

Tara heads to Boise State

One of my best friends in the whole world, Tara Polley, is headed off to a new adventure: college. At least college in not her home town. I couldn't be prouder of this girl. She just moved down to Boise last weekend. Before she left, Katie and I headed to C d'A to celebrate this new chapter in TP's life over sushi. I guess now I have a reason to visit Boise. :)

Coeur d'Alene with mom and Katie

Last weekend, Katie and I decided to beat the heat with a trip to the beach at C d'A. Why mom likes that public beach I'm not sure. The water was disgusting, and it was super crowded, but we still had fun. Here are a couple pics from the day, including the elusive picture of Riveria. The guy's hair is out of control!

Katie and Mikey, he's so big!

Intermediate/Junior High 3

I spent the last couple of weeks out at Camp Cross on staff. They were short-handed on program staff, and for some reason thought I would fit perfectly. I of course said yes because who can turn down two more weeks hanging on a lake, so after my move-in to the new house, I headed out to camp. It was Candi camp, so everything was super insane (Candi packs in some full days of craziness in the program when she's the resource leader). Here are a few pics of the fun.

Attacking Travis with my parrot hat. Ah, good times.

Senior high

Here are a few pics from senior high, where I got to hang out with Katie! It was super fun despite all the crazy bumps of camp. Good times were had by all!

Travis and I hanging on the docks.

Katie, Ken and I going in for throw-ins. Sloth-style.

Me, Katie and Ellen Adams (I used to nanny for her) at the dance. Ellen was my counseling partner this week.

Me dancing with my fav camper Whiting (who's 6'9" tall). I got a little height help from the fireplace bench.

Some of my favorite boys, Devin, Curtis, Colin, and Greg. Good times at the last dance!

The scavenger hunt

Our good friend Travis left our staff this week, as he had to head back to WSU yesterday. Before he left, he made us a fun little surprise, a scavenger hunt that led us through camp to different places and memories that Trav had through the summer. My buddy Krista and I braved the challenge last night after we finished up our work to see where Travis wanted us to go. These pics are from our adventure. We had a grand time and loved discovering all the places Trav sent us. It was a nice goodbye, and made us miss Travis just a tad bit more!

Clue #3 down at the canoe dock.

Clue #6 points to Krista... very sneaky!

Happy birthday Mommy!

This is a sign of how ridiculously busy my day has been that I am posting mom's birthday email at 1:11am on Aug. 7. I did have time to call her this morning if that counts for something. My mom is one of the most amazing women I know. She has an infinite amount of love for her family and those crazy Parlange's. She can knit anything... those boys know what they're talking about. She gave me a love for reading. I am too tired to write more, but it's coming. Love you to the moon and back mama.

Back at Camp Cross

So last week, my friend Colin asked me to finish up the last two sessions at camp as part of the staff. I of course quickly agreed because what could be better then two weeks on Lake Coeur d'Alene? I just got through my first full day as official camp staff member. I'll post some pics later, but this tired girl is heading to bed. Should be a great, very busy week!
