Concert weekend

I don't really know why, but this has been the year of concerts.  Usually, I see one maybe two concerts, but this year I'm closer to six already! This weekend somehow featured a double-header.  Katie bought us tickets to Zac Brown Band about two months ago.  He was playing at the Gorge and the other nurses at CCNW wanted to road trip.  Of course, I was immediately in; I love that bearded man.  Then a couple of weeks ago, I heard that Switchfoot was coming to the Spokane Interstate Fair.  They have long been one of my favorite bands, so as soon as I knew it was the day before Zac, I was going even if it was by myself.

I somehow convinced Krista, Curtis and Katie to join me for Switchfoot.  We bought tickets to the beer garden, and enjoyed some great toons and a little adult beverage for the evening.  The guys were great, and Katie even knew a couple of the songs (they pretty much wrote the entire soundtrack for A Walk to Remember- like every song Mandy Moore sings in the movie- Katie knew all of those).

Afterwards, we met up with our friend Kaitrin, and Katie finally got to go on a ride at the fair: the ferris wheel.   We also got to check out the animal exhibits and the others enjoyed an Elephant Ear (I declined).  Ah fair food, you are soooo evil! Overall, a night well spent.
Oh yeah! Carrots of fun indeed!

Saturday brought the main event: Zac Brown Band.  Katie and I met up with her friends Anette and Emily for our epic outing... ok maybe not EPIC, but it was definitely fun.  We hit the road, stopping only for Subway in Moses Lake (where I, of course, ran into someone I knew in the bathroom of Subway...).  We headed out to the Gorge, figured out the greatest parking trick ever, and got ready for some great music!

We made it through a couple of new bands/singers, and then were treated to a great concert by Zac.  He was his adorable, bearded self.  Completely self-effacing, and making us all want to have a husband from Georgia (Emily and Annette are both married, but that's probably not important)! He pretty much sang all of my favorites: Country Fried, Colder Weather, Toes in the Sand... he did his whole repertoire really! He even threw in one of my all-time favorite songs: Jolene, saying he had to do it since he was in Washington (for those of you unfamiliar with this Dolly Parton classic, the second line of the song features Spokane).

Overall, it was great night.  And we made it out of the parking lot in record time (seriously, less then 10 minutes).  Thanks for a greater weekend Katie!

SO much fun! Sneaking me into the beer garden... road trip with the gals... and of course seeing my future husband (and i'm willing to accept a doppelganger, it doesn't have to be Zac per se)!

thanks for posting the fat-face pic of me... ;)
