Rules:
-The songs do not have to be released in the particular year that you are making the CD...rather they are songs that have been discovered or rediscovered and have been particular meaningful or enjoyable or worth listening to that year for some reason.
-no repeats from year to year (this prevents the CD from being an all-time favorites album).
-you can include as many songs by one artist as you want.
-songs are limited to those that fit on a standard 80 minute CD.
In no particular order, here are my songs for 2010!
1. Amos Lee- Colors: I love this guy! If you haven't listened to Amos yet, get on it. This (and all songs Amos) was playing over and over at camp this summer.
2. More- Sam & Ruby: I discovered this delightful duo this year. More is perhaps one of the saddest songs I've ever heard, but it also has a hopefulness to it. Their voices together, TDF.
3. Animal- Neon Trees: I'm not totally sure why I love this song, I just do. It makes me smile whenever it pops on.
4. Fake Plastic Trees- Radiohead: I find that a lot of times I'll be listening to a song that I love, only to discover that it's Radiohead, so I finally gave in and downloaded a bunch of stuff from Katie. This song is probably my favorite and will forever make me think fondly of singing with the Camp Cross staff around the campfire.
5. Marry Me- Train: I always love Train, and was so happy when they came out with their new CD. This has long been my favorite song from it. So soulful, I can't wait until someone feels that way about me !-)
6. Skinny Dipping- Whitney Duncan: This song is sooo fun, and completely summertime.
7. Trouble- Ray LaMontagne: Ray's not new to me, but I had forgotten he sang this song until I went to his/David Grey's concert with Katie, Pam and Josh. LOVE it!
8. Expecting Great Things- Grant Campbell: My friend Brad introduced me to a couple new artists during our DC trip last spring. Here is the first of them. I love Grant's gravelly voice. Check him out immediately!
9. Orange Sky- Alexi Murdock: The second of my Brad pics. I had a hard time choosing just one song by him, but this is one of my favorites. Alexi did most of the soundtrack to "Away We Go", which is one of my favorite movies as well!
10. Dog Days Are Over- Florence and the Machine: Another song where I can't explain why I love it, but it just makes me happy when I hear it.
11. The Only Exception- Paramore: Paramore looks to be a perennial pic for my lists. The group just can't do wrong in my book and I love this newest ballad from their Brand New Eyes album. Such a sweet song about taking a chance on someone.
12. Your Hands- JJ Heller: This is not a new song, but Katie reminded me of it when she played it in Roatan and I love it so much I just had to throw it on here!
13. Just the Way You Are- Bruno Mars: Such a happy little song, and really, shouldn't this be how love is?
14. F*** You- Cee Lo Green: It's hard not to love a song that drops an F-bomb, and as my mom says, the music is so upbeat, it seems like it can't really be saying that!
15. Let's Just Fall in Love Again- Jason Castro: A peppy little summertime song. I love the idea of reliving the beginning of a relationship where everything is new and exciting. :)
16. Need You Now- Lady Antebellum: Again, choosing one song- difficult. I do love this one though! Love them so much, and going to see them and Tim in concert with Katie was one of my favorite memories of the year.
17. If I Die Young- A Band Called Perry: Kind of a morbid song about death, but sweet and lovely regardless of the subject.
Bonus track: Circle of Life- Broadway cast of the Lion King: My favorite day at camp, hands down. We all learned this song and sang it for morning exercises, and it was a bit of our summer theme! Had to get this on the mixed tape!

as always, I don't know most of these songs (I do like Trouble, tho), I'm sure they are great. You don't want to see MY list lol.
i need to listen to more Amos Lee. and i still hate Paramore, but I do like that one song. :)
and mom, since your list would consist entirely of books-on-tape or podcasts about knitting, you are correct - we wouldn't want to see it. ;)
True both of you. And Katie, you'd probably like mom's list if it was all Ricky podcasts and How stuff works episodes...
