ally lame, but nothing gives me greater pleasure then when I hear one of my students has been accepted to Whitman, and since it's only happened twice, you can imagine how ridiculously teary I get. I know it's crazy, but I just loved everything about my Whitman experience (except for one small year of rush when I was a sophomore...still a sore spot CL). Anyway, I am super excited this time because my friend Katie DePonty (an SG graduate with sister Katie), emailed me yesterday that one of my all time favorite students, Stephanie, has not only been accepted (I'm sure due to the amazing letter of recommendation I sent to them), but she's also a finalist for the Claire Sherwood scholarship. For those of you who aren't Whitties, the Sherwood is the MOST prestigious scholarship they offer to an incoming female. It meets the full need of a student for all four years, and includes a networking trip to New York during the student's senior year. There are usually only about 10 finalists from the entire perspective freshman class, and they get flown down to Whitman in April for an all-expense paid interview weekend. It's an amazing honor. I am so proud that one of my students made the cut. But I might add, that when I first talked to Katie about Steph, I said I thought she was perfect Sherwood material...guess I was right. OK, I'm done gushing now. At least until she wins it! (Fingers crossed, knock on wood)
