School's out for summer!

Oh glorious day, the school year for 2010-2011 is officially done.  I spent my last two weeks getting my grading done, getting my classroom cleaned and enjoying my students.  Funny how sweet they turn as the year draws to a close.  It's like they are tricking us so that we come back for another year where they can torture their poor teachers.  :) My last two day with my students consisted of us having a classroom party on Monday (with movie of course), and then Tuesday's 2 hours was filled with volleyball games (staff versus students and students versus students).  Finally, the staff went golfing to let loose for the year.  Such a great ending for a pretty great year!

School's OUT for Summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is the last day of school. Our kids are gone, our classrooms are clean (yes mom, even mine!), our grades are posted. Ah, sweet freedom...well, except for the fact that I have a thesis to buckle down on now. I have to admit though, nothing feels better then the sweet freedom that comes with that final bell. Here are some pics from our final day of school. So of course it snowed yesterday: these are my "sweet" Freshman posing with a yearbook just to prove it really is January...I mean June.
Seriously! That is snow. I didn't photo shop it (I'm not that talented yet).
After school, the staff went on our annual golfing trip, while the non-golfers headed for lunch at Twigs. Luckily for us golfers, the snow had stopped and the sun was out. We ended up with a nice, pretty dry afternoon for golfing and frolicing. My foursome was out of control of course! Three of my favorite staff ladies were on my team, and having a rip-roaring good time drinking and trying to play some golf. I stayed the sober one so we could at least get one cart in undamaged. Lots of fun was had by all. Some of our staff girls post-golfing/Twigs fun: Peggy, Alisha, Cis, me, and Kathryn
After golf, we headed over to our friend Dustin's house to have a going away party for one of our 5th grade teachers, Brad Van Dyne. He is taking a year off to travel and get his sanity back. I'm jealous of course! We are all pretty excited for him, but of course sad to see Brad leave our merry group. We are hoping his adventures refresh him, and then bring him back to the Freeman Family better then ever and ready to mold young minds into something. I'm pretty sure that I'll be following Brad's lead in another year or so to get refreshed myself! Dave (my principal), Anne Marie and her husband Hal join the festivities
So anyway, now I am left with a bit of freetime, and a promise to myself that I'll take some time tomorrow and Friday away from this crazy building. Maybe I'll help mom take care of the hoolies tomorrow or something....
